    Chime Labs and ServiceM8.

Chime answers the call, captures the customer, the address and the work, then writes it into ServiceM8 as a job the crew can actually dispatch.

The software is not the gap. The unanswered call is

ServiceM8 runs the job. The gap is the ten minutes before the job exists, when someone has to answer the phone, get the details right and type them in.

When nobody is free, that call becomes a voicemail, and the voicemail becomes a job someone else won.

    What the connection does

    Inside ServiceM8, day to day

    01

    Job cards from calls

Chime creates the ServiceM8 job with the customer, the address and the description already filled in.

    02

    Client matching

Returning callers are matched to their existing ServiceM8 client record instead of creating a duplicate.

    03

    Bookings on the calendar

Appointments land on the ServiceM8 calendar with a realistic window for the type of work.

    04

    Notes the crew can read

Every job carries a plain summary of what the caller said, so the tech knows what they are walking into.

    A record, not a message

What exactly lands in ServiceM8 when a call ends?

Most AI phone products finish a call by sending someone a message: a text, an email, or an enquiry sitting in an inbox waiting for a human to turn it into a job. Chime finishes the call by writing the job card in ServiceM8, with the detail already in the fields your crew reads.

    Client
The caller is matched to their existing ServiceM8 client record, or added as a new client if they have not rung before.
    Job address
The site address confirmed on the call, written to the job so the map and the run sheet are right.
    Job type
Mapped to your own ServiceM8 categories, so the board reflects the work rather than a generic enquiry.
    Job description
A plain summary of what the caller actually said, including access notes and who to ask for on site.
    Booked time
A scheduled window on the ServiceM8 calendar, sized for the type of work rather than a default slot.
    Contact details
Best number and name on the job, so the tech can ring ahead without hunting through a message thread.

The alternative is a message someone re-keys later. A message at 9pm is work still to do; a job card is work already done.

    •Call flow

    What happens when someone calls

    1. 01

      The call diverts

The phone rings out, is after hours, or is engaged, and the call comes to Chime.

    2. 02

      The details are captured

Name, number, address, the problem and how urgent it is.

    3. 03

      ServiceM8 is updated

A job card is created, matched to the right client record.

    4. 04

      The team dispatches

The job is on the board ready to allocate, no retyping.

    In practice

The job exists before you get back to the ute

The value is not the phone call. It is that the work is already written down, in the system your team dispatches from, with the details the tech needs on site.

You review it, adjust it if you want to, and send someone. Nothing is sitting in a notepad or a text thread.

    Who it suits

Is the ServiceM8 connection right for you?

ServiceM8 is the default job management tool for Australian sole traders and small crews. If you are on the tools all day and the phone is the bottleneck, this is the connection that keeps the work moving.

    ServiceM8 Phone Agent

How this compares to the ServiceM8 AI Phone Agent itself

ServiceM8 released its own AI Phone Agent in September 2025, bundled on Connect Plus. If you are weighing that up, you should, and we would rather set out the difference plainly than pretend it does not exist.

For a sole trader who is happy to move their number onto ServiceM8 Phone and mostly needs the phone covered, the built-in agent is good value and may well be the right choice. The facts below come from ServiceM8’s own documentation.

    • It books by sending the form

Its two booking actions are texting the caller a link to your online booking form, or submitting that form for them. Either way it arrives as an enquiry in the ServiceM8 Inbox for a human to convert into a job.

    • Its knowledge is a hand-typed FAQ

You maintain the knowledge base as an FAQ block. ServiceM8’s setup guide states: “It won’t pull details from your website, ServiceM8 job data, or anywhere else.”

    • It runs on ServiceM8 Phone

You need to move onto ServiceM8 Phone, their VoIP service. It caps at two simultaneous calls per user, with no desk phone or SIP support.

The difference is where the call ends up and how much the agent knows. ServiceM8’s agent deposits an enquiry for someone to process; Chime writes the job. Its agent knows the FAQ you typed; Chime is briefed on your services, your pricing rules and your service area, and keeps your existing phone setup. If, having read that, ServiceM8’s own agent is the better fit for you, take it — they are a good partner of ours and a good product.
