AI receptionist for contractors.Answers every call, books every job.
Chime Labs is an AI receptionist built for contractors and home service businesses. It answers every call 24/7 in a natural-sounding voice, qualifies the customer, and books the job straight into ServiceTitan, Jobber or Google Calendar — so you stop sending paid work to voicemail while the crew is out on a truck.
Built for HVAC, plumbing, electrical, locksmith, pest control, cleaning, garage door and handyman businesses.
Free to start · no credit card required.
A virtual receptionist that actually books the job.
A traditional answering service takes a message and passes it along — you still call back, and by then the homeowner has often booked the next company on the list. Chime handles the whole call: it answers, qualifies the customer, and puts the appointment on your schedule before the caller hangs up.
No message queue, no overnight backlog, no paying a call center by the minute. It is part of the same platform as our general AI receptionist, and tools for lead generation and estimates.
A missed call is a missed job.
A missed call is not a missed conversation. It is a job that walks straight to the next company on the search results.
Call a lead back in five minutes instead of thirty and you are roughly a hundred times more likely to reach them at all. That is the lead-response study led by Professor James Oldroyd at MIT Sloan, later popularised in Harvard Business Review, built on more than 15,000 leads and over 100,000 call attempts. Speed wins. A voicemail you return at 6pm, after the homeowner has already booked somebody else, is a dead lead.
And most callers will not leave that message. They hit voicemail, hang up, and dial the next name. For an owner-operator with one truck this is the whole game — you answer your own phone, or nobody does.
Side by side, honestly.
| Option | Answers 24/7? | Books the job (not just a message)? | Cost model | Scales with call volume? | Frees up the crew? |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| AI receptionist for contractors (Chime) | Yes — nights, weekends, holidays | Yes — qualifies, then books into ServiceTitan / Jobber / Google Calendar | Flat monthly | Yes — several calls at once | Yes — hands-off (complex jobs still route to you) |
| In-house receptionist | No — set hours, sick days, PTO | Yes — if trained on your system | Salary + benefits + payroll taxes | No — one person, one call | Yes, during their hours |
| Answering service / call center | Often (some business hours only) | No — usually texts you a message | Per-call or per-minute + monthly | Partly — cost rises with volume | Partly — you still call back to book |
| Voicemail | It "answers" | No — most callers just hang up | Free | Never busy | No — you return every call |
| Whoever is free grabs it | No — only when someone is free | Sometimes | "Free" (their time) | No — easily swamped | No — shifts the load, does not remove it |
No option is perfect — even a good AI should pass genuinely complex or commercial work to you rather than bluff it. The honest comparison is against your current setup, not a perfect one.

Books into the system you already run.
A booking that lands in the system you already run your day on is a scheduled job. A booking that lands anywhere else is a message somebody has to re-key — and re-keying at 9pm after a ten-hour day is exactly where after-hours work quietly dies.
Chime writes into ServiceTitan for larger operations, Jobber for growing shops, and Google Calendar for anyone running lean. Customer, address, job description and time arrive already filled in, so dispatch sees a real appointment rather than another notification.
The question worth asking any vendor is simple: does it write into my schedule, or does it just send me a text?
How it works for your trade.
The calls a locksmith gets at midnight are not the calls a cleaning company gets on a Monday morning. Each guide below covers the questions Chime asks, what counts as an emergency, and how the job lands on your schedule.
Built in Sydney by ex-Google engineers.
Chime Labs was founded in 2025 in Sydney by Alexis Griveau and Mathew Pretel, both formerly of Google, and is backed by 500 Global. We started by building voice for trade and home service businesses — the hardest possible test for a phone agent, because the calls are urgent, the addresses matter and the caller is often standing in water.
That work now runs with home service businesses in the United States. The engineering discipline is the same wherever the truck is parked: understand the caller the first time, get the address right, and put a real appointment on a real schedule.
